Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026. Privacy-first architecture, zero third-party tracking, and transparent data processing.
1. Privacy-First Commitment
At ckcaptions, we believe privacy is a fundamental human right. Our platform is built from the ground up on data-minimization principles. We do not sell your personal data, we do not monetize user telemetry, and we do not embed third-party advertising trackers, cross-site beacons, or external analytics scripts.
2. Information We Collect and Process
We only collect the minimum amount of information necessary to operate the service and authenticate memberships:
- Authentication Data: When logging in through Patreon OAuth 2.0, we receive your provider ID, username, email address, and active membership tier to verify your access permissions. We never receive, process, or store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or banking details.
- Usage & Performance Telemetry: First-party anonymous metrics (such as aggregate video views and UI click events) are processed on our secure origin servers to evaluate interface responsiveness and catalog performance. These records are never linked to personal advertising profiles.
- Preferences: User choices such as dark/light display mode and preferred caption/interface languages are stored locally on your device via browser LocalStorage.
3. Cookies and Storage Policy
We use strictly essential HttpOnly session cookies (such as ck_session and ck_visitor_session) to maintain security, prevent CSRF attacks, and verify subscriber status. No marketing or cross-site tracking cookies are deployed.
4. Data Subject Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)
Regardless of your geographic location, you possess comprehensive data rights:
- Right of Access: You may request a summary of the personal information associated with your account.
- Right to Rectification: You may update your profile preferences at any time in the account settings.
- Right to Erasure (“Right to Be Forgotten”): You may request complete deletion of your user record and associated data by emailing us.
